CHRISTMAS PARTY 1994

CHRISTMAS PARTY 1994

The party started for us when I called Rhonda at 7:15PM to confirm that the party was to begin at 8:00PM and was informed that it had been going on for some time. A quick look at the flyer from the newsletter confirmed that once again everyone was screwed up but me, including the flyer maker, as it clearly stated that everything was to start at 5:00PM with dinner at 6:00PM. That meant that we were one hour and fifteen minutes late for dinner and were bringing part of it. Fortunately for us, the Roughwheelers never start on time. We made it to the party by 7:45PM just as everyone was getting ready to eat.

Everything was really good. Chicken, ham, shrimp cocktail, potato salad, beans, jello salad, eggnog, punch, and many other things that I can’t remember; not getting to look at things as long as everyone else did. The Margaritas were good, the Strawberry Daiquiris were good, everything was good.

After dinner we engaged in polite conversation(??) until it was time to do the gift exchange. With Robert officiating, after some confusion with the ticket system, everyone who brought a gift, ended up with one. Some of the gifts this year were really funny. The Grand Door Prize was $50 which was won by Hector, the one guy who didn’t need it.

Nobody wanted to take the responsibility of setting up some games this year, but I had one left over from last year that for some reason got named the Dong Ball Game. A ball is put into the toe of an old pair of panty hose. The ball is suspended about an inch off the floor by wrapping the rest of the hose around your waist. Another ball is put on the floor, and without using your hands and just moving your hips, the object is to use the suspended ball to move the floor ball across the room to your partner and then give them the ball and hose to move the floor ball back to you. The fact that the room had a slope in it made for some interesting maneuvers and some hilarious moments.

After that, everyone was tired from playing and laughing so we just relaxed and visited before one by one people started for home. It was a good party even if we did miss the first two hours.
